This is my 1st home made rocket stove from a 20 lb. propane tank. This video is to show first boil time test for 3 different amounts of water.

    About reducing the gap above the heat riser. If I remember correctly, you’re using 4″ EMT, so your area is about 12.5 sq. inches (pi r sq. = 3.1416 x 4 = 12.5). Your gap area should be no less than that, to not restrict the flow. Gap height = desired gap area / circumference. At a 4″ diameter this neatly works out to a 1″ gap. (12.5 area / circumference (pi x d) 12.5). Great work by the way!!

    I have already made a shroud and will test it today. I also picked up some more used tanks today and am working on a new stove project and it will me more like the grover rocket stove.

    I just finished my 40lbs. tank rocket stove and got about the same results as yours did. one thing that I find works good is using vertical sheet metal for your cook top. it acts also as a wind screen between stovepipe and pot.
