1st Rocket Stove Lp tank .avi

July 29, 2010 Camping Propane Stoves

This is my 1st rocket stove. I used a used 20 lb. propane tank, 4″ EMT conduit, 12′ of 1/4″ round stock, a 5″ metal conduit box cover, 1 bag of vermiculite and 1 bag of perlite, and a welder. I have found that there are probably better materials for the insulation but the outside does not get hot enough to cause a fire, and keeps the burn tube very hot. I will be testing soon to see boil times and cooking results. I plan on making several more of these type stoves with a few different materials such as square tubing for the feed tube, and larger propane tank so I can make flat tops and bottoms. Please subscribe and comment. Thanks.

Great rocket stove! Waiting for boiling times, would be interesting to see smaller quantities boiling times i.e. half gallon or a one liter.

Great video. It was fun to see the progress as you completed the different steps. What is EMT ?

EMT is Electrical Metallic Tubing, thin wall metal conduit. I am not done with this project yet. hopefully more testing tomorrow and I have to buy some more sheet metal and a bender and I plan on making several different attachments, a heater box and an oven box for baking.
